Let's Play Umineko no Naku Koro ni - Episode 3 Chapter 13

Episode 3 Chapter 13 – The Dread Pirate Beatrice

So. EVA didn't leave with Eva. She's still with the gold. The beautiful, beautiful gold, which is all hers.

And she has a guest.

[SFX: ahaha.wav]

About as pleasant as the sound of a rooster being strangled.

At any rate, Beatrice is here to congratulate the person truly responsible for solving the riddle of the epitaph.

EVA.

“What's a congratulation,” EVA asks. “Can I spend it?”

Beato's chill about it, though. She's also here to hand out the full set of rewards.

The head's ring.

[BGM: Happiness of Marionette]

Rejoice, EVA. Your magic made your dream come true. And more than that.

It's made you a witch worthy of the name “Beatrice.”

For the first time in a thousand years, the torch is about to be passed.

The title comes with a staff, by the way. The current Beatrice doesn't really bother using it, her staff hand is always full with that pipe she never seems to smoke.

The witch EVA, born from the heart of Eva Ushiromiya, is now the Golden Witch.

EVA-Beatrice
Golden Witch, Endless Witch, Family Head
Specialties: Magic, ambition

It's almost certainly some manner of outfit, yes.

I, for one, welcome our literal new witch overlord.

Virgilia welcomes her!

Ronove welcomes her!

Bronove welcomes her!

Lambdadelta welcomes her, sort of!

Antics welcome her!

At any rate, Lambdadelta always roots for underdogs who take fate into their own hands and work super hard. And yet she's betting on Beato, not Battler. Huh.

Bernkastel welcomes her, she guesses. Meh.

The stakes welcome her!

EVA-Beatrice is overwhelmed by the well-earned adoration of the world of fantasy. She's certainly the person of the hour.

PAUSE.

Battler is back to not knowing what the fuck. I'm sure he missed it, seeming kind of baseline competent for so many chapters in a row.

But... what does this mean for the game? Will there be more murders? Is that up to EVA-Beatrice? Because hopefully she's nothing like her predecessor.

Virgilia, please explain! In small words!

So... it shouldn't be important, hopefully.

Now that she's not Beatrice anymore, she's experimenting with ice burns as an alternative to her usual taunting and screeching. Try to come across as older and wiser, you know?

Oh waah waaaaaah. Getting sick of ex-Beatrice's pouting.

Again, like Genji and Kumasawa with Ronove and Virgilia. EVA-Beatrice is Eva, but she's certainly not Eva.

Naturally, Battler is confused. But MORE IMPORTANTLY

Your opponent needs a new name.

He wouldn't dignify her by coming up with something creative.

It's true, the game has changed. There's a new witch down on the gameboard. Only time will tell what that means.

UNPAUSE.

I think the new Beatrice will be doing things differently, though.

PAUSE.

Battler welcomes her.

So, yeah, this is weird.

Is it me? I swear these two are seriously starting to like each other.

Knock it off! No fraternizing with the enemy, Battler!
